We've cancelled tonight's event because of uncertainty about the weather, the roads after dark, and the possibility of icing.  Senators Beason and Ward have been apprised and will happily reschedule when we can find a new date and venue.  We will likely try for a Monday evening next time.  We're very sorry for any inconvenience that this short notice may cause.  Stay home, warm, and safe.

The Rainy Day Patriots is working on a focused set plan of action for this year. It will be narrow and decisive. It will NOT be a waste of our time or a broad pot luck of wishes. If you are willing to work with us, we are proud to have you. If not, I am sure you can find your place in the sun somewhere else. We are the Rainy Day Patriots, nothing more. Not a 3rd party, not an extension of the GOP, just citizens who don't want to waste our time on the wrong enemy again. The stay home voters and those that voted to keep Obama in office by dividing the votes, are in my opinion the problem that brought us Obama 2. If you feel this does not meet your needs as a citizen, there are other venues that may suit your needs better. Zan Green

Ladies & Gentlemen -- if you're planning to attend the January 17th seminar with senators Beason and Ward -- a word about topics and questions. 

We've invited our guests to talk about issues and bills they see coming up in the 2013 legislative session, and that's what they've agreed to do.  We hope and expect that questions and discussion at the meeting will focus on those issues.  There are plenty of them to occupy the evening.  Please refrain from bringing up unrelated issues, such as secession, election post-mortems, third party questions, etc.  This is a matter of courtesy to our guests, but also to move the evening along and focus on issues immediately related to Alabama.

The January 17th meeting will NOT be at Hamburger Heaven.  Repeat -- it will NOT be at Hamburger Heaven.

The meeting will be at the Homewood Public Library.  Final details are as follows:

6-8:30 pm, Thursday, January 17th, Room 101A at the Homewood Public Library

 

State senators Scott Beason(17th Dist., Blount, Jefferson, St.Clair) and Cam Ward(14th Dist. Bibb, Chilton Shelby, Jefferson) will be our guests.

 

They'll discuss the legislation they see coming up in the 2013 legislative session, and take questions from the audience on issues important to Tea Party members and sympathizers.

 

The room can seat about 50 people, and we'd like to have as many as possible join us.  The doors will open at 6:00 and the program will start promptly at 6:30, concluding about 8:30. 

 

Library rules say we must be out of the room by 8:45.

We have confirmations from our invited speakers, Alabama state senators Scott Beason and Cam Ward.  If you recall the October 2010 meeting with senators Beason and Jabo Waggoner, the format will be the same.  The usual meeting open, brief introductions of the speakers, followed by about five-ten minutes each to describe the legislation they see coming forward in the 2013 legislative session.  After that, we'll throw the floor open to questions for both senators concerning issues important to RDP and its conservative base.  There are some important bills coming up in the '13 session that you'll want to learn about and get our guests' assessment of their chances.

ALL are invited -- other RDP chapters especially, but conservatives generally who support our principles.
