It’s meeting time again. Please note at the end of this email, the time, date and directions are written in red.
I apologize for the lateness of this email. Because we are redoing our office, I have not been able to get this email out before now. Two weeks without our computer has shown us just how tied we are to the internet.
We are still working on the website, and have two offers to redo the website for a fee. They will be making a presentation to the board at their first meeting. Hopefully a new fully functioning website will be available by the next meeting, in July.
Senator Paul Sanford and Representative Ed Henry will speak at our meeting this week. They will be able to tell us more about what happened in Montgomery during this last session. Also Ed Henry is working with the Alabama Policy Institute, and other legislators to draft a consumption tax bill to replace the income based taxes in Alabama. It is possible that Senator Arthur Orr will also be able to attend the meeting, and lend his insight into what has happened in an historic legislative session.
We were contacted Monday by Congressman Brooks’ office, and he is going to speak to our group at our August meeting.
The rest of this email is a repeat of last month’s. The information is still pertinent.

We now have a board of directors for our FairTax Educational Association, a 501(c)(3) tax deductible, educational organization to help raise funds for FairTax in Alabama, and Ray McKee is filing the paperwork. It will be modeled after the successful Florida FairTax Educational Association Inc. You can see their website here: http://www.flfairtax.org/.
We are hoping that we will be able to raise money more easily to pay for trifolds, pocket cards, billboards, and commercial announcements on the radio and television. Other states have raised quite a lot of money doing this, and made it much easier to educate their state about the FairTax. We are hoping that will be the case for Alabama as well. The more people know and understand about the FairTax, the more they demand it from their representatives.

We still do not have our new website up and running. I had great hopes that it would be ready to go for this meeting. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Hopefully by next month we will have our new website, and the availability to take donations, tax deductible donations, online. We will then be looking for someone to keep the website current. If you are willing to take the time to maintain our website, please let us know.

We are looking for members who would be willing to take on the challenge of being Community Coordinators and District Directors. If you think you might be interested in volunteering, let us know. I would like to turn over our Huntsville group to someone willing to maintain it. Chuck and I are currently serving in three capacities, State Director, 5th District Director, and Huntsville Community Coordinator. We really need someone to help out in at least one, and hopefully two of those roles. If you are interested, keep in mind that we will still be available to help out, so you won’t be expected to take over cold.

See you at our next meeting on June 16th at 7:00 PM. The time, place, and directions can be found at ALFairTax.com. District 5 information can be found by clicking on the number 5 above the map on the home page or you can click here. For those who regularly attend, the meeting is at the regular time and place.
As always, if you would rather not receive our emails, notify us by email so we can take you off our list.
