Committee Meetings in Montgomery, Wednesday April 21st

Well, it looks like the clock ran out on getting Millican to schedule a Health Committee meeting. But boy, did people call them like crazy. One representative said "Why are y'all just starting to call now?" and I told him that I have been calling Montgomery about SB233 for the entire last 30 days. He was just trying to give me the old run-a-round.

But I'm going tomorrow morning from Verizon Wireless Music Center (Oak Mountain) Amphitheatre and leaving there at 7 AM to…

Does anybody want to go to Montgomery on Wednesday?

Posted on April 19, 2010 at 6:04pm 0 Comments

Hi,

I'm going to Montgomery on Wednesday to see this opt out bill through. I've come this far, and if it fails, I'm taking names of the opponents for sure.

Call me at 205-643-0567 or email me at markelders@yahoo.com

Thanks for supporting SB233, the opt out bill.

Mark

Mark, I have been dropped as a member of Legislative Watch and can no longer leave comments on the webpage.  I wish to continue communication with Watch members and will attempt to do so by  inviting them to be on my friends' list to whom I can send messages and/or by posting entries on "my blog" page ( http://www.rainydaypatriots.org/profiles/blog/list?user=0umw3ur6rafzv ) or on my separate 10 day email campaign blog under Label I2. Rainy Day Patriots. Thanks.

I don't know how many will be there. I was informed about it by Deanna Frankowski. I guess it's for both supporters and those who want to know a bit more about Mr. James.

I'm planning on it at this point. But just returned from Florida late monday, and currently playing catch-up. Thursday looks good so far, but -- we'll see.

Mark -- are you planning to go to M'gy Thursday to meet Tim James?

Mark -- no, I wasn't able to get down there. I'm retired, and normally I'd have been able to go. But my wife and I are leaving for StPete, FL tomorrow for a few days to see the grandkids. My grandson has his first communion Saturday, which we don't want to miss. So this week has been kind of 'lost' with preparation for the trip, etc. I did send some emails to Millican, etc., even though I suspected we were screwed on the House side. In talking recently with Jabo Waggoner (an old friend), and Hank Erwin (my state senator), I'm convinced our best chance this primary/general election season is to focus on the State Senate. With Jim Preuitt's defection to the Republican side, we only have to take three senate seats this fall instead of four, and both Waggoner and Erwin are confident we can do that. IF we can capture the Senate, we can stymie a lot of what the House does, or put pressure on to make stuff happen there. I've long been of the opinion that changing the way things are done -- federal, state, local -- is gonna take long term, committed, focused involvement. The American Revolution only had 25-30 percent support in the colonies. The rest of the people either sided with the Crown or sat it out. This is how people are, human nature, and if we dwell on that it becomes depressing. But it's taken us nearly a hundred years to get where we are, and no more than 30 percent of the American people worked like moles, termites and cockroaches to achieve it. I suspect we've a very long row ahead of us, but if we keep at it things will begin to percolate our way in time. Maybe I sound silly, but I HAVE to believe that, and work at it for the rest of my days. The alternative is not to my liking. Sorry for the lecture. Thanks for the effort. Glad to have you as an RDP, and hope we can meet up soon.
