The core of the Tea Party is its focus on the United States Constitution, and forcing our federal and state governments to live and work within its limits. We helped make a start on that with the elections of November 2010. However, the current occupant in OUR White House -- the Termite-in-Chief, Barack Obama -- seems to take delight in ignoring, by-passing, or trashing that glorious document at every turn. From the first appointment of his "czars" outside congressional authority, to…

I have said this repeatedly to myself and to anyone who will listen. Focusing JUST on beating Barack Obama in 2012 would be a mistake. We have two fish to fry that are nearly as big -- reinforcing the conservative bloc in the House, and the top priority as I see it, taking back the Senate majority. The current Republican contingent there badly needs some leadership with spine, and Mitch McConnell is not it. So -- with those sentiments, I offer a link to a post on RedState this week…

Readers of this blog are aware of my "take" on a third party. For many reasons, I believe they do not and will not work in our political system. Certainly our history since TR's Bull Moose Party movement in 1912 has made clear that third party movements are spoilers. They usually get the opposite result from what they want. Now comes an American Thinker article of considerable merit (I think) that analyzes the third party idea from the perspective of now-through-2012. I will not try to…

I do want to help his campaign, but I have to be respectful of my boss and my job as well. I know the Founding Fathers and the patriotic women of 1776 shucked their jobs and went to fight leaving everything behind literally.
Do you know how many people will be in Montgomery to see Tim James? Is it a must-be-there type event for people who support Tim James? Please let me know more details, okay?
Sorry to be responding late. I became very sick on Sat evening, and was sick yesterday, Sunday.
No, I guess I'm not going on Thurs. I don't see how I can. Are you going?
Wish I could.
How many people will be there for Tim James in Montgomery?
I will try to remember to start sending you his e-mails.
Enjoy Florida with your family.
Mark
I stand by what I said earlier on every radio show in town. It's true that Hammett, Millican and Guin even, along with the Black Caucas (who at least admits to it publicly) worked to kill this bill. But if the public at large showed even 1/10 of the burning passion and enthusiasm for SB233 that they show for one college football game or the coach's trophy, getting this bill passed and to the governor's desk for signing would have been a cake walk. Sometimes, I feel like we still have to wake a sleeping giant (the public at large) to bring about the degree of change we are looking for. Also, we need to shift the balance of power in Montgomery to more delegates like Demarco, and Bishop.
But several of my friends admitted to me that they wanted to go to Montgomery but couldn't get the day off. I understand that not everyone has a flexible job like I do. But they called the phone numbers like crazy and they texted delegates like crazy and they gave me support as best they could. And I was especially amazed by the wonderful support of a few of the RDP's especially.
I do sort of suspect that if Nick Saban, or anything related to college football had been in Montgomery yesterday, that there would have been lines and lines of people. I love college football too, and I go nuts over the Crimson Tide. But I am saying all this just to say that I wish we could somehow tap into that energy level among the football fans and use that energy level to pass bills to benefit us all.
Oh well, I know that I did everything I could. I have to move on to other battles now, like the Tim James campaign and the Michelle Waller campaign. I'm volunteering for both of them.
Did you go yesterday, Steve?
