While I've been a member and frequent commenter at redstate, it's come to my attention that a few other folks are from Alabama, including the author of this diary, Repair Man Jack. RMJ (as the regulars call him) and I exchanged some comments on another diary the other day, and I suggested he follow up on his urge to write a diary about our challengers to Spender, opps, I mean Spencer Bachus, and here it is. RMJ gives a shout out to us and mentions our upcoming forum. It would certain behoove…

All of us have special days in our lives that we keep with us always, some good some bad but they’re all significant. So it will be with me for Monday January 23, 2012 at 3:50 AM. Something woke me up at 3:30 AM and a few minutes later I heard long rolling thunder, it was the storms coming out of Little Rock that I had seen on radar before going to bed. Before I could contemplate going back to sleep the sirens went…

"Alabama is currently reducing its unemployment rate faster than any other state in the country. This is happening at the same general time that HB56, Alabama's new 'strongest in the nation' immigration law, is taking effect. In areas like Marshall County where the illegal alien population was very high, the unemployment rate has dropped three percent since the law was enacted. We'd like to know your opinion about how much effect HB56 has had on the jobless rate in…

The day before President Obama’s inauguration, the average price for gasoline was $1.83 per gallon. Today, in the Birmingham area, it’s running between $3.14 - $3.39 per gallon, that is a 78% increase in three years and there is no relief in sight. Do you remember Obama promising you “skyrocketing energy prices”, well you can’t say he doesn’t keep his promises. Not only is it costing you more to drive to work but it’s…

Perception is everything, and Santorum is generally perceived as conservative. However, I've read some things about him the last couple of days that are making me reconsider my view of him. Namely, the fact that he defended earmarks. Specifically in South Carolina against Senator Jim DeMint, the man who I consider to be the Tea Party's best friend. Santorum was also against the National Right to Work Act, siding with Democrats in 1995. He has a record of being a big spender, supports ethanol…

In the history of American law enforcement, many times local, state and Federal law enforcement agencies have allowed the transport of contraband to occur, under constant surveillance, so it could be traced to its final destination. This approach is designed to round up the maximum number of criminals connected to a crime and has proven successful. In the case of Fast & Furious, the plan seems to have…

Ronald Reagan gave us his “11th Commandment: Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican”. While there is wisdom in that statement, I must be honest in admitting that I have sinned, as I’m sure many of you have. The Republican Party has become a large part of the problem over the years, that fact cannot be disputed. When the Tea Party began we basically had two options, go third party or begin the long arduous…

I hope that many of us are planning on attending the Restoring Love event. I think this is his best idea yet. What better way to get this ball rolling than to go serve others. There are many ways that we could accomplish this. We could carpool and caravan up there, share rooms and it wouldn't be all that expensive. Or, as you all know, we can charter a bus and with enough people, we can book a block of rooms at unbelievably low rates. There are ways that we can do this. I am willing to help…

Hi Folks, Should the U.S. Attorney General be an elected position? I'm beginning to think so.When U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder can go before Congress and admit he lied[PERJURY] to Congress. And withhold documents requested by congress[OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE] in the "Operation Fast&Furious"investigation[He knew about it in 2010].And he is't charged with a crime.Something is surely wrong here.Scooter Libby was convicted of lying to Congress- Roger Clemons is going to…

I was a Herman Cain supporter before Herman ever announced his intent to seek the Republican nomination for POTUS. Like many of you, it’s disappointing seeing him drop out of the race but I don’t believe Herman’s really gone, no more than Sarah is gone. While they aren’t part of the primary and will not be elected POTUS in 2012, their influence on this nation may be far greater than anyone can ever know. It was Sarah…

Hi Folks,
Thats what a CNN poll of registered republican voters revealed.I believe it's time to get behind one horse.I believe that person is Gov.Rick Perry.Who has a solid record as a republican,pro-gun,conservative.After reading literally thousands of comment's,it's become apparent. That there are alot of anti-perry activists .Throwing all sort of disparaging rhetorical crap against the wall in hopes of that some will stick and they can influence someone,at worst ,to…
