What Exactly Is Amnesty?

I have received many emails saying in essence that Michele Bachmann is lying about poor Newt.  He is not granting "amnesty" and he is not giving citizenship to illegal aliens.

Here is the definition of Amnesty from Webster’s Dictionary:

verb, -tied, -ty·ing. noun 1. a general pardon for offenses, especially political offenses, against a government, often granted before any trial or conviction.  2. Law . an act of forgiveness for past offenses, especially to a class of persons as a whole.  3. a forgetting or overlooking of any past offense.   verb (used with object) 4. to grant amnesty to; pardon.

I’m sorry, but no matter how you try to spin it … what Newt is suggesting is amnesty – it is an overlooking of any past offenses.

Based upon Webster’s definition, Michele Bachmann is exactly right.  He is proposing amnesty for millions of people.  Now, you can lie to yourselves and to the voters in general, but it is what it is – amnesty.  Newt is pulling a Clinton and trying to ask what the definition of “is” is.  So,  read "Root for Newt", CLICK HERE.
